Breast Lifts (Mastopexy)Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, restores a more youthful appearance to a woman’s breasts. Over the years breasts can lose their shape and fullness due to pregnancy, nursing or simply due to the effect of gravity. A breast lift is designed to raise and reshape breasts, and reposition the nipple to a more desirable site —slowing the effects of aging and gravity. A breast lift can also reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple) if that is desired.
During a breast lift consultation, patients let Dr. Bern know if they are interested in increasing breast size as well as reshaping the breast. If an increase in size is desire, patients may wish to combine a breast lift with breast augmentation. This combination is often especially appealing to women who have lost breast volume after pregnancy. A breast lift is designed to raise and reshape breasts.
