The eyes reveal much about how a person feels. When your eyes are bright and alert, you appear happy, energized and refreshed.
However, if you have drooping upper lids, lower eyelid puffiness, or dark shadows under the eyes, others may assume that you are tired, angry or unhappy. Age, sun exposure and hereditary factors can all contribute to these changes. When changes become severe, vision may be affected. An eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, is designed to restore a more youthful, refreshed appearance to your eyes. It may involve the upper lids, the lower lids, or both. Upper eyelid surgery can remove the excess fat and drooping skin. The same procedure can be modified to give Asian eyelids a defined "double fold". Lower lid surgery is designed to minimize bags under the eyes and tighten the lower eyelid skin. Removal of the fat is usually performed through the inside of the lower eyelid. This technique leaves no visible scars and is unlikely to change the lower eyelid position or contour.
